This quick meat sauce is a crowd-pleaser and a family dinner lifesaver, perfect for busy days when you don't have time for a slow simmer bolognese. You can make it in about 20 minutes of active time and it's great for days on the go.
1. Heat olive oil in a large pot.
2. Add in chopped onions and trinity mix and stir to combine. Season with 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp garlic powder.
3. When onions are translucent, add in your sweet Italian sausage (out of the casing) and chop up using your spoon, leaving it chunky.
4. Once the sausage has browned a bit, add in your ground chuck. Cook until all meat is browned.
5. Add in the pasta sauce, crushed tomatoes, and the rest of the seasoning (1 tsp dried basil, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 2 bay leaves, chili flakes to taste). Stir to combine.
6. Let the sauce simmer together for at least 5 minutes.
7. Remove from the heat and let sit until almost ready to serve.
8. Reheat for about 15 minutes at low heat before serving. Serve over your favorite pasta, such as rigatoni.
